T. Rex

Biografia

Marc Bolan formou o grupo folk Tyrannosaurus Rex no fim dos anos 60, ainda como um duo. No início dos anos 70 mudou o nome para T.Rex, já como uma banda lançou albuns clássicos: “The Slider” (Telegram Sam, Ballroom of Mars), “Eletric Warrior” (Cosmic Dancer, Life’s a Gas, Mambo Sun), “Tanx”; embora vários outros discos tenham hits reconhecidos. Durante esse período, a chamada T. Rexcia (?), o grupo dominou as paradas inglesas, nessa fase Bolan foi um dos iniciadores do chamado Glam rock, usando roupas espalhafatosas, salto plataforma, muita pluma e paete. Nos E.U.A. seu único grande hit foi “Get it On” (renomeado Bang a Gong). Bolan chegou a ter um programa de televisão onde recebia novos expoentes da cena musical.
Marc Bolan faleceu em um acidente de carro, semanas após Elvis Presley. Segundo os críticos influenciou artistas do heavy metal, punk rock e folk.
